Hailing from Finland, Jon Nurminen began working in kitchens at the age of 15 with no initial desire to become a chef. He soon fell in love with cooking and took up an apprenticeship which changed his life and inspired him to move abroad.
Arriving in Australia in 2014, Jon worked for a year in Brisbane before moving to the Gold Coast and landing a job at the iconic and unfortunately now closed, The Fish House in Burleigh Heads. While working there for five years and later becoming their head chef, Jon developed a great appreciation of Australian seafood and a connection to the producers of locally sourced ingredients. Now, following his passion of Finnish cooking techniques and applying this to Australian fish and other seafoods, Jon delivers an exciting menu, offering a unique point of difference to other seafood restaurants in the region.
